Dear business leaders and community partners,
I want to invite you to an event that offers a great opportunity for northwest Ohio to continue diversifying its economy through the growth and development of technology-based businesses. Through the Regional Growth Partnership, Credit Suisse’s Customized Fund Investment Group will host an educational event about the Ohio-Midwest Fund, a $51 million fund that focuses on investing in companies based in Ohio and the Midwest region.
The Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (Ohio PERS) launched this new investment program, Ohio-Midwest Fund, in September 2005. Credit Suisse was selected to manage the Fund and has committed capital to eight private equity and venture capital funds throughout Ohio, all of which have strong economic ties to the state. They will in turn invest in companies located primarily in Ohio and the Midwest region.
A panel discussion will be held, featuring managers from several of the Ohio venture funds, to address such issues as the attractiveness for private equity investment in northwest Ohio and how local businesses can seek such investments.

Similar events have already been held in Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Akron, drawing about 100 of the respective region’s business and investment community leaders. I strongly believe we can, and should, match that attendance.
